Edward H. Milligan
Edward Hyslop Milligan (born 1922), also known as Ted Milligan, is a Quaker historian and the former librarian at Friends House, London. He is the author of ''The Biographical Dictionary of British Quakers in Commerce and Industry 1775-1920'',〔''The Biographical Dictionary of British Quakers in Commerce and Industry 1775-1920'', by Edward H Milligan, Sessions of York (2007) ISBN 978-1-85072-367-7.〕 which includes entries for some 2,800 people. He received the 2009 Besterman/McColvin Award for this work 〔reported in ''The Friend'' 19 June 2009. The Besterman/McColvin Award is given by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) for outstanding works of reference〕 and an Honorary degree from Lancaster University 〔(Lancaster University - Honorary degrees 2009. )〕
Educated at Ackworth School and the University of Reading, he was the Librarian and Archivist of Meeting for Sufferings of Britain Yearly Meeting, responsible for the Library at Friends House, London for 25 years from 1957 to 1985. He was succeeded by Malcolm J Thomas.
On his retirement, he was presented with a Festschrift: ''A Quaker miscellany for Edward H.
